This series is a duology.
Highlights
I could see Hafsah Faizal’s style all over this story. She brought a similar mystery, whispered legends and quest we’ve seen in her previous work.
What to Expect
- Reminiscence of Sands of Arawiya
- Vampires and humans
- Potential love triangle
- Multiple potential love relationships
- Little romance or tension
- More plot-focused
- Deceiving appearances
- Secret pasts
- A lot of mystery
- YA
- Multiple POV
What I Missed
“Tearoom by light, bloodhouse by dark.”
- It’s true the premise seemed to revolve around the tearoom. However, the story doesn’t really happen there or involve it so much. It was more a home and a symbol.
- It got confusing at times. Some characters’ motivations weren’t clear. The romance was also undefined, as in it was difficult to know for which one to root. That said, and having read Sands of Arawiya, I believe this book could be misunderstood. I have a feeling this story was thought more as one big book than a duology, and therefore, why it feels odd sometimes. I need its sequel to form a better opinion.
“We’ll have ourselves a tempest of tea on the horizon.”
