My Thoughts

I applaud the different perspective this story was told from. We’re not following closely the romantic relationship of the marrying couple, but what goes behind the scenes with their mothers. I see it as a way to represent and give voice to a more mature public, who also faces challenges, even when it seems their life is all made. It’s interesting to see these women surpass their prejudices and expectations and open up to new possibilities in their lives.

That said, the narration got confusing. Sometimes, I wasn’t sure which character was taking center stage. Also, the story had a slow pace so it go stagnant at times. At some point, too, the ultimate objective of the story wasn't clear, but towards the end it got more interesting.

How to classify this book as it happens around a wedding, but is not a romance... Should we say fiction?
