Highlights
📝
All in all, it was an intriguing premise and the story in itself delivered, even when things were unclear or confusing at times.
There was a unique system of magic and curious creatures. Also, I appreciate the ‘humanity,’ vulnerability and emotions in the main characters; it made them more real.
What to Expect
- Enemies to lovers
- Slow burn
- Fun banter
- Sassy characters
- A lot of betrayal, secrets and hidden plots
- Monsters and creatures of all kinds
- Gore
- Dual POV
What I Missed
- It was confusing, specially the first few times, how the author jumped from the present to the past. It would have helped using italics or some stylistic form to separate the narration from dreams and memories.
- I didn’t grasp the main characters’ powers very well. For instance, why would they ‘teleport’ sometimes and when it was crucial, they didn’t even think about it? I needed a clearer perspective on what they could do or not. They’re all powerful beings. Yet sometimes, they felt too mortal when the situation demanded something more extraordinary.
