Highlights

The story was good overall. Now, it seems Jennifer Armentrout (JLA) is making Casteel catch up with Poppy’s power and lifespan. However, is it truly necessary to add more complexity to the story at this point?

What to Expect

  • A lot of sex
  • Breaking moments
  • New developments
  • Loss and death
  • Blurry lines

What I Missed

  • There were too many sex scenes, also misplaced—between important conversations and moments. It cut the flow and may me lose interest in the couple.
  • Casteel’s clinginess to Poppy went a bit too far. We love his overprotectiveness. This time, though, it bordered between protection and cutting her wings.
  • JLA’s love for complexity has the potential to lessen the impact of the story. Adding more powers and possibilities to what the characters can achieve without a strong structure and arguments as to why it is possible may result in a cheap way of justifying the need to make the main couple equal (in power, status, immortality, etc.).
